Help and FAQThe BorrowMe Help system is designed to answer the most Frequently Asked Questions in different areas of the site. Should an answer not be clear enough, you can click the Discuss link. This will take you to our GetSatisfaction page where you are able to ask for additional details or clarification on a particular topic. 6 topicsBorrow, Gift, Rent and Sell What are resources?
Resources are files that you can upload to help you promote your items. You could put together a list of all your items with your number as a tear off, friends could print it off and post it at their office or on their campus to help you get more exposure.
Discuss Why is there nothing in my area?
BorrowMe is still new, so you may find that there are fewer items near you to begin with. We suggest you add some items of your own and promote them within your community, this will garner interest from others.
Soon you will find more and more stuff around you as more people join in your area. Discuss What is a Private Item?
Items that are marked as private do not show up in your stuff when other users are browsing your profile. These items will also not show up in searches on the site.
Marking an item as private is useful if you only want to lend something to a particular person. You can go to their profile, choose 'Offer to Lend/Rent/Sell/Give' and the transaction can be completed without the general public knowing the item is there. Discuss Are there items I should not share?
We recommend that you never list items that are rare and valuable, have high sentimental value, are listed in our Prohibited Items Policy or items that are prohibited by law in your area.
Discuss How much does it cost?
While BorrowMe is looking at implementing Premium features in the future, all transactions are currently free for all users.
Discuss What happens if I break somebody else's stuff?
When transacting on BorrowMe, you must agree to the other parties terms and conditions before finalizing a transaction. This is where you and the other party would detail deposits and compensation in case of such an incident.
While we are sure you would do your best to take proper care of somebody else’s property, accidents do happen. If you don't agree to the terms and conditions required by the other party, we suggest you cancel the transaction or re-negotiate to suit your needs.
